Type of play team-play / 3 vs 3
Introduction
Competitive Match uses the same rules as Dominion but introduces some new mechanics and can be played only during Competitive Match seasons.
New Mechanics
Legend Picks
Players take turns to pick Legends in a given order and cannot select a previously picked Legend.
You can participate in Competitive Matches only when not in a party.
Tiers
Competitive Match incorporates tiers which you can climb by winning. Tier ranks can be viewed in-game, allowing players to show off their skill levels worldwide.
You can enter Competitive Matches by meeting the criteria below.
Own 6 or more Legends (Seasonal Trial Legends included)
Not in a designated team (party)
How to play
(1) Joining the Game
You can start participating in Competitive Matches by selecting [Competitive Match] in the game mode selection screen and then pressing Start. Competitive Match prioritizes matching you with players of similar skill levels and therefore may take longer to begin than other modes such as Dominion. Disconnecting from the session after matchmaking or during the match may result in temporary restrictions on gameplay.
Penalties
Disconnecting during gameplay results in penalties.
- 1 or more disconnects: Excluded from matchmaking for 5 minutes
- 3 or more disconnects: Excluded from matchmaking for 10 minutes, -30 tier points
- 5 or more disconnects: Excluded from matchmaking for 30 minutes, -100 tier points
- 10 or more disconnects: Excluded from matchmaking for 60 minutes, -100 tier points
※ The criteria for the penalties mentioned above are based on the number of occurrences within 72 hours.
Maps are selected randomly before matches begin. The selected map is displayed on screen.
(2) Selecting Legends
Before the match begins, 6 players take turns to pick Legends.
Legends who have been already selected in the pick order cannot be picked, however.
You can switch out your Legend’s Abilities for different ones. This can be performed in the loading screen also.
(1) Legend pick order is displayed here.
(2) You can replace Abilities for the Legend you picked.
(3) Both owned and Seasonal Trial Legends are displayed here.
(4) You can (un)recommend Legends to your teammates or let them know which Legend you want to play.
(5) Information for the current map can be viewed here.
Once your turn arrives, you can pick a desired Legend to play and press the Select button located at the center of the screen.
Competitive Match uses the exact same rule as Dominion including random maps and victory for the first team capturing the Dominion Point.
(3) Post-game Results
Use the top-right button to check damage contributions from your teammates.
Win: Winning increases your tier points, affected by whether you are the MVP for that match. Also, the amount of tier points you receive may vary by tiers.
Loss: Losing decreases your tier points.
Tiers
Based on tier points, tier progresses through Bronze 3 → Bronze 2 → Bronze 1 → Silver 3 → Silver 2 → Silver 1 → Gold 2 → Gold 1 → Platinum3 → Platinum2 → Platinum1 → Diamond2 → Diamond1 → Master → Grand Master → Legendary.
Those who continue to perform well in the Master tier are moved to Legendary tier.
The daily promotion to the Legendary tier takes place at 16:00 (KST).
The top 50 players in the Master tier will be promoted to the Legendary tier.
However, if there are not enough players in the Master tier at the beginning of the season, the number of Legendary tier players may be less than 50.
Tier Demotion
Players in the tiers of Master and Legendary are subject to tier demotion. The players who are in those tiers are asked to play at least 5 matches within 120 hours before 16:00 (KST) everyday.
The 120 hour timer is applied retrospectively at 16:00 (KST), so if a player reaches the Master tier before 16:00 (KST) but has not played 5 games within 120 hours before 16:00 (KST) on the day of reaching the Master tier, the player's tier will be demoted.
The tier demotion does not occur when a player's tier drops to the Platinum tier.
For tier demotion, players who did not play the minimum number of matches will be demoted to the Platinum tier with 50 tier points.
Your tier is displayed below Profile at the top-left corner in Lobby.
After finishing a Competitive Match, you may gain or lose tier points depending on the match result.
Your tier will be bumped down to a lower level if your tier points drop to zero or below.
Your rank will not be displayed if you don’t participate in Competitive Matches.
Tier Rewards
You can earn Profile icons by playing a set number of Competitive Matches during each season.
Profile icons are given to players who have played a certain number of Competitive Matches and those who have achieved high performance results in ranking at the end of the season.
Reaching certain tiers in a Competitive Match season gives you a tier-exclusive Profile frame that can be used throughout next season.
Ranking
You can check your rank under [Lobby] → [Menu] → [Ranking.]
Pressing Season Rewards shows which rewards are available for the current season.
Use the top-right button in Ranking to view ranks by Worldwide, Region, and Friends.
